We might be running out of ways to introduce these recurring articles, but thankfully the artists haven't ran out of new music. Here are some of our favourite new releases of the last two weeks. Have at it!
Andy Martin - Exactly Where I'm Supposed To Be
Released today, Brisbane artist Andy Martin has continued his open book approach to songwriting with his latest single.
This track was produced by ARIA award winning producer and long time collaborator Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Hope D, Asha Jefferies).
Andy's also been touring a bunch in 2024, supporting the likes of The Rubens, Ben Lee, Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors), The Vanns, The Whitlams, The Moving Stills, Rogue Traders, and more all across Australia. He was also recently handpicked by Angus & Julia Stone for an intensive mentorship program back in July out of Studios 301.
Speaking of touring, Andy's playing in Sydney this Saturday at the Trocadero Room.
If you're liking what you're hearing from Andy, we have some good news: he's going to be our next podcast guest this coming Monday, so get hyped!
TOWNS - TANTRUM
Adelaide's pop-punk duo TOWNS have released their newest single, TANTRUM (not sure if the all caps title is a pun - but I'm going to assume it is because I find it funny).
The duo have also announced their debut album Sentimental Slowdown, set for release on Friday, the 15th November.
The duo have been friends for over 10 years, and they say the new album signifies the chapter in their lives after meeting on the first day of uni.
In the meantime, listen to TANTRUM and get around the duo!
Alta Falls - Everything Is Falling Apart
Brisbane indie electropop band Alta Falls hit you with the Stranger Things nostalgia with their latest single Everything Is Falling Apart.
Taking another bright stride forward with their music, ‘Everything Is Falling Apart’ sees Alta Falls redefine their sound and vision, providing the listener with an exciting insight into what still lies ahead for the band when it comes to new work and projects on the horizon. The single has had some steady hands working on it, as it was produced by Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Jaguar Jonze) and mixed by Oscar Dawson from Holy Holy.
Tjhe band say that Everything Is Falling Apart is about the heartache of losing someone who’s been a constant presence in your life. Even when they’re no longer physically here, their essence lingers in the spaces they once filled, like a shadow woven into the everyday.
The Cheaks - Starting Again
Newcastle rockers The Cheaks are back with their latest fast-paced indie-rock tune.
This one was produced by Coastie legend and friend of Homebrewed Jack Nigro at his Sonora Studios in Tuggerah, and the magician has done it again.
The band say the song is about letting go of things, navigating all those emotions involved but knowing that everything will be okay in the end. The song has an undertone that when times are tough you can’t go in alone, grab your mates and get through things together.”
The latest release is set to be followed by a new EP 'Sirens' later this month on October 24.
Gabilóu Garnet - Deep Dive
One of the newest Coasties we've come across, and one we're definitely excited about!
Gabilóu Garnet says she's inspired by Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, and I think she's fused them together nicely in her second single release Deep Dive.
There's not a lot of information out there for her, but if you like what you hear, let her know on her socials!
