Who's who in the last two? | August 20, 2025

I asked every search engine how it's best to measure 14 days. The results were mixed. Some said 14 days is best known as two weeks. Some said it's often referred to as a fortnight. But the smartest of search engines said 14 days is best measured as the time between Who's Who articles by Homebrewed Media. Very smart indeed.

Teenage Dads - Fire Fire

Oh boy it was tempting to make four of the five new releases exclusively Teenage Dads. The Melbourne band have just today released their new EP, My Memento.

The first track was a brand new single, but the remaining three tracks were the fun bonus tracks from their debut album MAJORDOMO Jordy told us about earlier this year.

The reason I'm so excited for this is EP is because the only way for me to listen to all the bonus tracks previously was through a bootlegged, low quality download a fan had put up on their discord.

Little Quirks - Everything But The Title

It's another new release from Central Coast favourites Little Quirks ahead of an upcoming album (are we allowed to tell you that...?)

This song was written about being stuck in a situationship, and it's another example of a singer writing from witnessing someone else's experiences.

The Coast 5-piece have also recently finished supporting The Cat Empire which looked wicked!

More exciting stuff on the horizon for the Quirks - if you somehow haven't gotten around them yet, jump on it now!

The Cheaks - Talk It Out

Newcastle-based alt-rock band The Cheaks also have an EP hot off the press!

They've just released Signals on the 20th of August, with the feature track ‘Talk It Out’ being the feature single of the EP.

It's an indie rock track pulsing with urgency and heart capturing the essence of needing closure in a relationship.

Devon Street - Charis (Dream)

Boorloo/Perth-based rock act Devon Street have unveiled their most raw and personal release yet with 'Charis (Dream)

Written in memory of the Milne brothers' cousin, the track is a powerful tribute to a life lost to addiction, told from his perspective.

Blending alternative and experimental rock with both dreamy textures and fierce outbursts, 'Charis (Dream)' explores the deceptive, abusive relationship between a person and substance abuse.

The track reaches its emotional peak in the bridge, as the protagonist pleads directly with the drugs, capturing the despair and fading humanity that comes with repeated use.

Wishlist - Even When I'm Leaving

Well, it's one hell of a way to make a debut!

Wishlist is the new collaborative project from Naarm/Melbourne producers and longtime creative partners Stella Farnan and Soren Maryasin.

Their debut single, ‘Even When I’m Leaving’, drifts in the space between closeness and undoing; a meditation on the quiet rupture of change. Anchored by tactile electronics, fractured samples, and an evolving sense of momentum, the track captures the moment before a decision settles, where love and distance blur into something less easily named.

The pair will play their debut show on August 25th at the Northcote Social Club, ahead of their appearance at BIGSOUND 2025.
