F**k me, another two weeks have passed already? Well then, strap in for another round up of our favourite releases of the last fortnight, and let's see how we can connect every one to the Central Coast. Let's go!
Evie Irie - I'm Not Sorry
Sydney-based Coastie Evie Irie has just released her latest pop track, and it's directed at touchy, creepy men.
The new single is unapologetically direct, and the social media posts surrounding the single are just as bold and blatant.
On this track, Evie says "it doesn’t dance around the point, and that’s intentional. It mirrors the way certain men move through the world… loud, direct, and often so completely unaware."
"So I thought, why not give that same energy right back but make it funny, hot, and empowering.”
If you like Olivia Rodrigo mixed with a bit of BENEE, this one from Evie Irie will be right up your alley!
Haley Holgate - Michael's Song
Sydney-based-never-a-Coastie-but-someone-we-mistakenly-thought-was-a-Coastie, Haley Holgate, has just dropped another raw, emotional beauty.
Picking right up from Lavender's Bridge, Haley's soft vocals shine through this track, complimented perfectly by equally impressive guitar work.
The single is another glimpse into her life, as she continues to get more personal with her releases.
On the track, she took to Instagram to say that Michael's Song was "incredibly personal" and that it felt like she was "letting you see right through me".
Molly Millington - Your Villain
Coastie through and through (unless she's recently moved to Sydney and hasn't told us) Molly Millington is back after a year away from music, and we're stoked about it!
Molly has described this track as the beginning of a new era, and judging by her Instagram clear out beyond anything posted two weeks ago, it certainly feels that way.
The track was produce by Sydney producer Xavier Dunn, as was the first track by Evie Irie featured on this list - go Xavier!
Sonically the track is a bit fun and playful, but the lyrics paint a different picture.
"I recently learnt there’s no point trying to explain yourself to someone who’s already decided how they see you," Molly said.
"I was gonna try and be mature, but pettiness just sat better with me."
Joe Mungovan - Know It All
South-Coast-kinda-sounds-like-the-Central-Coast artist Joe Mungovan has been on our radar for a little while now, but his newest release Know It All deserved some love on this list.
The track is about, well, a Mr. Know It All. And as the risk of being the very guy Joe calls out in this track, it bugged me that the microphone in the music clip constantly changed. If that was deliberate, you've got me hook, like and sinker, my friend. I am officially now, THAT guy.
Joe's heading out on tour next week off the back of this release, playing at The Crowbar in Sydney along with stops in Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Terrys - Spezial
They're not from the Central Coast, but The Terrys have done plenty of recording time with Jack Nigro on the Central Coast - and thus, every track on this list has featured a solid (or loose) connection to our region. BAM!
Back to the music - The Terrys have released their third album which is a self-titled masterpiece.
On top of that, the Gerringong-based band are going on a National tour to celebrate. The best part? They've capped their tickets at $35! In an ever-increasingly expensive world, the band's decision to cap ticket prices is a massive gesture to make their tours as accessible as possible.
