New music releases, our favourites here are - Yoda, 2024 (probably).
merci, mercy - Angel
Sydney pop sensation merci, mercy has continued her flurry of new releases with 'Angel'.
Having released her 'Like an Orchid' EP last year, 'Angel' marks mercy, mercy's second single release of 2024.
"I'm a sad bad bitch // Take out the sad // Take out the bad // Flip the switch.
"I'm an angel you don't need to fix."
The chorus dances to the melody of the bass and drums. It's hard not to groove to this one.
Catch merci, mercy in Woy Woy on September 7!
Gia Darcy - Crash Test
Central Coast native, but Sydney-based musician Gia Darcy has released her latest single ahead of an EP with the same name, 'Crash Test'.
Speaking to Homebrewed earlier this month, Gia says 'Crash Test' is a song about being someone's 'crash test dummy' in a relationship - making mistakes and learning from you, only to then discard you and move on to someone else with the knowledge they gained in your relationship.
That upcoming EP hasn't been officially announced, but in somewhat of a Homebrewed exclusive, we can reveal that the EP will be hitting your ears in September. It's definitely worthwhile creating a reminder for - there's a lot to like!
Joel Leggett - Bird House (feat. Anna Stanton)
Soft, smooth, melodic.
Three of the first words which came to mind when I heard this song for the first time.
It could be the colder nights as we're now smack-bang in the middle of Winter, but I'd love to have this song playing through a portable speaker on a rural acreage with a bonfire metres high to keep us all warm.
The banjo infused throughout the song is a lovely touch.
Sam Windley - Mad Dog
Her first song of 2024 continues right where she left off in 2023 with 'Excited' and 'Marbles'.
Sam Windley has been on the Homebrewed radar for quite some time, and it's fair to say that Sam has evolved massively as a musician since we spoke with her in early 2020.
Her new brand of alternative music is hitting all the right areas, and we're Excited as a Mad Dog to see more.
The Rions - Physical Medicine
The second single of 2024 from The Rions, hot off their 2023 EP 'Minivan'.
While 'Sweet Cocoon' can be labelled a fast-paced rock track, 'Physical Medicine' takes a breather and skips a step.
A slower tempo'd track, with the bassline and drums the stars of the show - that is until the synths hit you in the chorus.
For me, this is a combo of Walk The Moon, Holy Holy, and Spacey Jane. I dig!!
Dune Rats - UP!
This song is not new, but it acts as a timely reminder to lodge your 2023/24 tax returns! You're welcome.
"I got my tax back, baby! // I've got fat stacks, baby!"
