Gia Darcy - Nice Things
A song about the excitement and uncertainty of a new relationship, ‘Nice Things’ is out as of today (Wednesday August 14th).
Exploring the heady spectrum of emotions that come with starting a new relationship, Gia’s new single is a prime example of how good pop music can truly nourish. Following a string of impressive singles to date , ‘Nice Things’ is a beautiful addition to Gia’s body of work, which will ultimately lead to the release of her anticipated EP project, Crash Test.
Nice Things is an upbeat and syrupy sweet, leans into those butterfly-filled feelings of having a new crush – something any listener can relate to.
“The vibe of "Nice Things" is fun and upbeat, with a nostalgic touch that reminds me of having a crush as a kid," Darcy said on the release.
"The song captures the excitement and nervousness of a new relationship, detailing the thrill of meeting someone special and the struggle to open up due to past heartbreak. It's got an energetic, feel-good sound that makes you want to dance and relive those fluttery, early relationship moments.”

Hey! Astro - Maybe
Central Coast artist Hey! Astro released his debut Mixtape on Friday, called 'Don't Wait Another Minute'. Used as a reminder to live life in the moment and not to dwell on the past, the mixtape is full of up-beat alt-pop tracks we've come to love from Astro.
However, we also see a new vulnerable side to Hey! Astro that we've rarely had a glimpse of, and the track that best resembles that is Maybe. Throughout the track, Astro asks hypothetical questions that might have changed the outcome of his relationship - "Maybe if I was a little taller, or "maybe if I got a little stronger", or, the gut-wrenching "maybe if she saw me as a person."
If you want to hear more about Astro, he's our most recent guest on our podcast - check it out!
DICE - Masquerade
Perth rockers DICE have released their debut album 'Midnight Zoo', and it's a cracker.
One of our picks from it is this Brit-rock-inspired track 'Masquerade'. Fusing the deep drums and guitars of Arctic Monkeys with the light strums of The Stokes, Masquerade is still quintessentially DICE.
The Perth four-piece are set to embark on their 'Midnight Zoo' world tour starting next month, with stops in Sydney (September 28) and Newcastle (September 29), before jetting around Australia, Europe and the U.S.
Full DICE tour dates here.
Little Quirks - The Ones That Dance
It’s going to be a big month for Central Coast favourites Little Quirks.
Not only have they recently released a brand new single, they’ll be releasing their self-titled debut album on the 20th of September!
This has been a long time coming for the indie-folk outfit, which has evolved from a trio to a five-piece over the years. One thing remains, though, and that’s their ability to make foot-tapping melodies and riffs.
‘The Ones That Dance is arguably their most anthems track to date, likely as a direct result of bringing in an electric guitarist in the last year or so.
Speaking to Homebrewed 12 months ago for our Studio Sessions project, Little Quirks revealed that their next album (set for release next month) could take on a more rock sound than previously heard. If this new single is any indication, I’d say we’re in for a treat!
Purée - Figure It Out
South Australian indie-rock sweethearts Purée have released their latest offering, 'Figure It Out'.
It comes after a successful April release ‘I Guess You Were Right’ which saw the young band receive extensive support across the country, including upward of 50k streams.
“‘Figure It Out’ comes from a place of confusion and panic around what the people in your life think of you, how they might feel about you beyond their words and ultimately just being petrified of losing someone who matters to you," the band said on the release.
"Relationships, friendships, work colleagues or old school friends you haven’t seen in four years all have certain intricacies to them, and when your mind almost feels like it’s been cruelly constructed to overthink, even the smallest details in someone's words or actions can spin you into another dimension of uncertainty, full of panicked internalised questions.”
The release of ‘Figure It Out’ is set to be followed up by a string of four Australian shows from the SA four-piece, which will see them grace stages in South Australia, Victoria and, for the very first time, NSW! They've also gained support slots with the like of Betty Rays.
