Who's who in the last two? October 29, 2025

It's been a stacked moment for Australian releases, with the Central Coast firmly in the mix. Have a go at our picks form the last fortnight (or so) (lol).

Joel Leggett - Lifetime of Love

We're counting down the hours 'til Darkinjung favourite Joel Leggett releases his fourth album, 'Love Game'. The album is due to drop tomorrow (October 30), and Lifetime of Love is the fourth and final single we've been gifted ahead of the full release.

Lifetime of Love is a feel-good, nostalgic offering from Joel Leggett. The track carries a uniquely Australian feel thanks to the wonderful fusion of acoustic and jangly electric guitar with Leggett's honest vocal delivery. Recorded with Jack Nigro at Sonora Studios, the track balances rawness and sonic depth beautifully. Keen ears will note some wonderful harmonies and synth elements positioned only where they're needed.

What we've heard from 'Love Game' so far points to Joel Leggett's strongest release to date. He's unfortunately had to cancel some interstate shows due to personal issues, but is forging on with dates on the Central Coast (literally tonight - details here) and Sydney next month.

Annie Hamilton - without you (Barely Passable redesign)

You can file the new Annie Hamilton/Barely Passable team up under 'things you didn't know facilitated life on earth'. Annie Hamilton dropped without you last year as part of her second album, 'stop and smell the lightning'. A fantastic track on its own, without you has entered new territory courtesy of Eora duo Barely Passable.

Barely passable have more-or-less matched the tempo of without you with their redesign, injecting expansive layers of funk and electronic throughout and rearranging Hamilton's vocal elements. Where they've landed is that joyous spot between reimagining without you and maintaining Annie Hamilton's original creative intention.

A certain Youtuber by the name of Mark Finney declared the need for a dance remix in the comments of the original video for without you, released almost a year ago. Hopefully Mark is aware of the above development. Make sure you never miss a development by following Barely Passable here and Annie Hamilton here.

Elaskia - Either Way I Lose

Elaskia fans rejoice! The Central Coast solo artist is back with her whimsical latest single, Either Way I Lose. This release comes after a couple of years writing and touring, as well as collaborating with artists like Melbourne's Lachie Gill and NZ electronic duo Chores.

Either Way I Lose explores the conflicting and torturous emotions of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Elaskia told Homebrewed.au that the track was inspired by the experience of a friend, who met the perfect partner just before leaving the country for a year. Sonically, Either Way I Lose is a stunning and immersive offering from Elaskia, blending a gentle and lush soundscape with somber lyrics and delivery.

If you wanna catch Elaskia live, she's midway through a stack of shows around NSW; with her next performance happening in Belmont on Friday. Keep an eye on her socials for tour updates and upcoming releases. Keep your other eye on our socials for an upcoming conversation with Elaskia.

NEAV, KAS:ST - Echoes of Us

Now this one falls well outside of the last couple of weeks, but we couldn't let NEAV's latest collaboration with French Techno heavyweight KAS:ST slip through the Homebrewed mitts. Echoes of Us is one of two collaborations between NEAV and KAS:ST for the latter's new album, 'Adore'.

Echoes of Us positions NEAV in a completely new space and atmosphere compared to previous offerings. Her vocals take centre stage amongst KAS:ST's melodic drum and bass production, with Neav given license to unleash her amazing vocal range. Last year, Neav was a recipient of Creative Australia's Export Development Fund, which led to a six week networking trip to Europe earlier this year and the link up with KAS:ST.

There's no word on live shows from NEAV right now, but you can keep up to date with her via her socials. Check out her website while you're at it for NEAV's story so far.

Floodlights - Tricky

Floodlights gave us their third album 'Underneath' back in March, making it three critically acclaimed albums from three. With their latest single, Tricky, Floodlights have picked up right where they left off; making clear that they wont be resting on their laurels.

Floodlights draw more heavily on piano and synth elements inTricky, crafting a euphoric and emotive love song centred on the idea of "letting go of the past and embracing the future". It's yet another five-star offering from Floodlights, who sayTricky represents a measured step into new territory, with spontaneity and a DIY ethos at the forefront.

If you wanna cop the Floodlights experience live, they've just announced a regional tour of the East Coast. Catch info on those shows and more via their website.
