Who's who in the last two? | March 19, 2025

The last fortnight has anointed us with the sweet oils of new music releases from the Central Coast. We have packaged some of these oils into an online blog post. You're welcome.

Deadshowws - I Should

Darkinjung alt emo extraordinaires Deadshowws shook us last year with their double release Two Toned//She Said. One year on, they're back with I Should.

Produced and mixed by lead singer Connor Massey, I Should expertly blends emo and hardcore vocal elements with the roaring breakdowns and sonic intensity that make Deadshowws so compelling.

This is a really strong return to releasing from one of the Central Coast's best heavy exports. The band are heading on a three-stop tour off the back of this single, too. Grab tickets to the I Should tour here and follow the band's socials while you're at it.

Kalani Artis - Downfall

After an exciting end to 2024, Central Coast singer songwriter Kalani Artis is back with his first offering of the new year, Downfall. This release has some incredible singalong energy, with Kalani's show-stopping vocals exploring and embracing his own experiences of adversity.

We caught up with Kalani right at the beginning of last year, and got to know someone with incredible passion for the power of music to help people. He's also done a bunch of work with Musicians Making a Difference - a charity we can't speak highly enough of.

Kalani Artis will be launching Downfall at the new Six Strings Brewery in Erina this Saturday, and also supporting The Rions at The Sunken Monkey on Saturday night. for details and tickets on those gigs, catch Kalani's insta.

The Ritzy Kids - Lately

Pop Punk lovers rejoice! The Ritzy Kids are back with an extremely catchy new single, Lately.

Not only that, they've announced a debut album is on the way. Their LP, High Side of Town will be coming our way April 18.

Lately is a punchy dive into the idea of trying to reconnect with a former friend who's run into health troubles. Outside of the interesting concept, Lately demonstrates just how well the lads from The Ritzy Kids can construct a song.

Sean and Scotty from the band joined us for a chat at Sonora studios last week for a chat about this release, their story so far and the debut album heading our way. A couple of the band members have kids on the way, so no gigs are on the horizon for now (fair enough, we guess...). Keep your eyes on their socials for updates in the meantime.

Comar - TBC

Central Coast rapper Comar is on the cusp of dropping his first new solo music in a while - and it's all about our area. In a bit of a twist for this article, the track actually hasn't been released yet and we don't even know its name. However based on the snippets Comar has dropped on his instagram, we know it's gonna go hard.

Comar's single drops midnight tonight, so all eyes on his aforementioned socials and streaming platforms for the drop. This release will be the first taste of Comar's upcoming project Central Coast's Finest, and we're stinging to hear what he's cooked up.

While you wait - and to get a taste of what's coming - please enjoy the above video of Comar's last solo single, J Dilla.

The Moving Stills

Today is a good day - The Moving Stills have dropped new music. Running Out is a dreamy 2025 debut for the Dakinjung band, who have legally mandated that you listen to their new single today. Jail awaits if you don't.

In all seriousness, Running Out is yet another demonstration of The Moving Stills' ability to dive into and master new sounds. This release drops the BPM some, while introducing swirling synth and sweet harmonies to transport you to a fluffy cloud-based dreamscape. You heard it here first.

The Moving Stills will be bringing their live show to Newcastle on March 29 before jetting over to New Zealand in May. Catch all of those details via their website.
